Lost Arab is a visual poem exploring the artist’s journey as a queer Arab, asking questions of belonging. How to Carry Water immerses the audience in a world of fat beauty and liberation, one in which marginalized bodies, including bodies of water, are sacred. Mulika is a creative and poetic Afro-futuristic film, addressing neo colonial continuities. Non-binary is a short fashion documentary exploring the middle ground between two genders. Safe Space montages found footage of ballroom performers from the early nineties, and overlays it with contemporary statements from LGBTQIA+ refugees. Survivor Manifesto – The Art of Making Kin is a video essay in which trauma survivors cast wild visions of utopian societies.

The screening is followed by the performance I Watched C-beams Glitter in the Dark by the duo Renan Manhães and Medhat Aldaabal, which uses audience interaction to explore power, identity, and narrative in dance, breaking structural limitations.

Renan Manhães was born South-American, appropriated their queer identity and formed themself as an artist mostly focused on dance and performance.

Medhat Aldaabal studied Dance in Syria and performed with diverse dance groups in the Arab region.

Dan Dansen is a Berlin-based non-binary filmmaker and artist working with experiments, documentary and fiction.

Mirelle Borra is a Dutch-born, Berlin based artist predominantly working with moving image.

Arnold Tam is a Hong Kong / Amsterdam based filmmaker. His projects often focus on characters with identity and socio-political struggles.
