A contest held by a soft drink company awards Delia, a young girl from Romania, and her parents take a trip to Bucharest to claim her prize: A stunning new car. The only requirement left is for Delia to make an appearance in a commercial. Everything goes smoothly at first until it becomes evident that Delia and her parents have divergent plans for the car's future and the sponsor of the contest is following his own interests. With the same wry humor that has appeared in all his subsequent films, Radu Jude’s debut feature is both a scathing satire and psychological examination of a society marked by its pursuit of capitalism and consumerism.
