Prabha and Anu are two nurses working in a hospital in Mumbai. Prabha, whose husband from an arranged marriage emigrated to Germany shortly after the wedding, lives with young Anu in a working-class neighborhood. Full of dreams for her future, Anu is in a secret relationship with a Muslim boy. When a rice cooker arrives in the post, their world suddenly falls apart.
