Edith Marcello's film work is primarily focussed on social movements. She began by looking at migrant work and life experiences and self-organization in West Germany - here we showing her Hessischer Rundfunk Billige Hände - Ausländische Arbeiterinnen In Deutschland (1969). This is followed by films about strikes and self-managed factories. Pierburg - Ihr Kampf Ist Unser Kampf accompanies a wildcat strike initiated by migrant women in 1973. Remake dedicates a homage to a director who has so far gone unnoticed in historical film research. (BG)
