Sarah Maldoror. Kontext Vol. 4

Curated by Esra Kartal, Feven Haile and Gaby Babić

In June, a comprehensive retrospective of Sarah Maldoror (1929–2020), one of the pioneers of African and Afro-diasporic cinema, was the focus of a week-long programme at SİNEMA TRANSTOPIA. Sarah Maldoror. Kontext continues between October to December 2024 with an extended focus on (post)migrant and diasporic realities of our time.

The final installment is dedicated to Black German realities and perspectives. At SİNEMA TRANSTOPIA, we present The Homes We Carry – a portrait of a family torn apart by the vicissitudes of world history, between Germany, Mozambique and South Africa – with a conceptual foreword and an alternative Q&A by students from the Berlin University of the Arts. (SMK)
