With feature films, documentaries, and shorts, the Ukrainian Film Festival showcases the diversity of Ukrainian cinema, inviting the Berlin audience to explore the current film landscape in Ukraine. Running from October 23. to 27., 2024 marks the festival’s fifth edition and presents a selection of Ukrainian films from both emerging and established filmmakers. Screenings take place in various cinemas across Berlin, highlighting Ukraine’s culture, history, and contemporary stories through film. This year’s motto – The Art of Being Free – explores the complexities of liberation, both from external control and internalized erasure. The programme examines the challenges of reclaiming identity and the power of storytelling as a tool for decolonization. (VZ+DB)
