An evening dedicated to the remembering of the repression of the Indonesian military regime. "Sama-sama" is the Indonesian word for togetherness or something reciprocal. Film and music are presented as a way to preserve memories eroded by impunity and repression. As shadows of the military regime are currently coming back to rule the country, this gathering aims to invite gestures of solidarity. Fajar Merah will perform the poetry of his father, Wiji Thukul, set to minimalist acoustic music, refusing to forget Thukul’s disappearance in the late 1990s at the hands of the Indonesian state. The film You and I portrays Kaminah and Kusdalini, two old women and former inmates who met in one of the military regime’s political prisons in the mid 1960s and have stayed together ever since.
