A diverse mini festival of fresh short documentaries from inside West Papua (Indonesia) starts its tour around Germany and the Netherlands at SİNEMA TRANSTOPIA in Berlin.

Each of these captivating short films sheds light on the conditions and developments in West Papua, a region in Indonesia that lies beyond the international spotlight, civil and armed conflicts characterize everyday life, where thousands of internally displaced people live, and where the environmental destruction caused by mining and the timber industry threatens the livelihoods of the indigenous population.
Created by local activist filmmakers, they also tell positive stories of peaceful resistance, struggles for social justice, and the fight against environmental destruction.
Following the screening, several of the filmmakers will be present for discussions, publicizing their situation and lending support to activists in West Papua as they struggle for basic human and land rights. (WI)
