Set in Dakar in a time-shifting chronology, the film follows the story of Awa and Adama, two 15-year-old twins. Awa is focused on her studies while her brother Adama hopes to emigrate to Europe. Following the death of their grandmother, they are put in the care of their uncle Atoumane (Ibrahima M’Baye). In accordance with their grandmother's dying wish, Atoumane marries his resistant cousin Fatou. Her rejection of him prompts Atoumane to take out his frustration on Awa with life-altering consequences for them both.

Moussa Sène Absa is a Senegalese film director, editor, producer, screenwriter, painter and songwriter. As a film director he won several international awards for his short films, documentaries, and feature films.
