Etilaat Rooz was one of the biggest investigative and independent daily newspapers based in Kabul. Its stories dealt with corruption and abuse of office, and in 2020 it received a Transparency International award for its reporting. Director Abbas Rezaie films the last days of the newsroom before the Taliban invasion in August 2021, showing the challenges that worsened with each passing day and the reactions of the journalists. His sensitive observations provide an intense picture of this time and illustrate the profound impact this change of power has had on the people behind the newspaper.
