As part of the ongoing project In die Zukunft gedacht: CommUnity, EOTO (Each One Teach One) proudly presents a special event honoring Zumbi and Brazilian Black Consciousness Day. This celebration highlights the resilience and cultural contributions of Afro-Brazilian communities, showcasing their influence on Brazil's cultural and economic landscape. The evening will feature a screening of Herdeiros (The Heirs), a compelling documentary about African oral traditions in the Morro da Serrinha favela of Rio de Janeiro. Prior to the film, AuslanderBirosca will present and sell Acarajé, an afro diasporic dish with profound historical and economic significance. Following the screening, join us for a discussion with the film’s director, Thais Nepomuceno, moderated by writer Rhea Ramjohn. This conversation will delve into the themes of cultural resistance, community solidarity, and the ongoing struggle for recognition and justice for Afro-Brazilian people. (TN)
