As part of the action weeks against anti-Muslim racism, CLAIM (Alliance Against Islamo­phobia and Anti-Muslim Hate) and the Türkische Gemeinde in Deutschland present Es brennt. The feature debut of Erol Afşin, it depicts the story of an Egyptian family living in Germany who are racially insulted and attacked by a right-wing extremist man at a playground. The subsequent judicial proceedings brings the institutional and structural manifestations of anti-Muslim racism to the fore. Es brennt, with its tragic ending, is inspired by a true event. (CLAIM)

Erol Afşin is an actor, screenwriter, and director who primarily works in the German language and lives in Berlin. Throughout his acting studies, he performed in theater productions and films on both national and international levels. Es brennt marks his directorial debut.

Halima Ilter is a German-Kurdish actress. She was born in 1983 in Mardin and grew up in Germany. She studied acting in Berlin. Since then she has played in numerous German, Kurdish and international short and featured films. Her last international project was "The Full Monty" by Catherine Morshead & Andrew Chaplin (UK) and „Winners”  by Soleen Yusef.
