In 2019, director Huaxuan Ni started a series of interviews with women from across China. A simple online recruitment process was launched; no selection criteria was given except for a willingness to sit in front of the camera to be interviewed. Over two years, the director filmed interviews with 1,000 women in which no preconceived framework was given and hardly any questions were asked.

Listen closely to what these women living in China want to tell us: fragments of memories and feelings, stories about fathers, mothers, and daughters, revelations about sexual desire, life and death.

Huaxuan Ni is an independent documentary filmmaker born in 1986 in Shandong Province, China.
