What are heroes? And do they exist only in films and comics, or in our everyday lives too? In our families, at school, or among our friends? A closer look reveals: we all carry valuable stories within us, stories often shaped by the challenges we face. But what superpowers do we already have, and which ones are still waiting to be discovered?

In this four-day workshop, we'll watch animated short films and create a cut-out animation together about our own everyday heroes. And there's something special: all participants will receive a secret superpower, passed on to us by seniors from East Asian cultural backgrounds.

In this Easter holiday program for Asian-German youth, the main focus is on having fun together and creating new hero films. In this space, we want to encourage each other, learn from and with one another, and grow together.

Jan Tsien Beller (he/him) is a German-Korean actor, educator, and permanent company member at the Theater an der Parkaue – Junges Staatstheater Berlin.

Jeannette Vy Han Nguyen (she/her) is a Vietnamese-German cultural educator (M.A.) and aspiring communication designer (B.A.). Her work focuses on designing needs-oriented educational offerings and spaces with and for marginalized groups.
