Young, Black and Queer: The Early Works of Cheryl Dunye

Chosen by Dalia Soliman

This special screening program gathers the formative, fearless early works of Cheryl Dunye, a pioneering voice in New Queer Cinema. Through a blend of intimate autobiography, sly fiction, and playful documentary, Dunye deftly excavates the intersections of race, sexuality, and memory. With a DIY aesthetic and a wry, personal lens, she constructs and deconstructs identity, history, and desire, questioning who gets to tell stories and who remains in the archives. (Dalia Soliman)
