Emilia Roig & Mohamed Amjahid in conversation
Emilia Roig and Mohamed Amjahid meet for a conversation about the crises of our time and possible paths to a new ethic of coexistence. Drawing on their recent books, they discuss capitalism, racism and authoritarian politics – and how radical care, solidarity and a shift in consciousness can enable social change. They talk about power and responsibility, politics in the private sphere, and the question of how we can act humanely, empathetically and freely in the midst of global upheaval.
Dr. Emilia Roig is a political scientist, author and one of the most influential voices for social justice, healing and social change in Germany. In her books and essays – including the bestsellers Why We Matter, Das Ende der Ehe, Lieben und LIEBER SOHN (The End of Marriage, Love and Dear Son) and So rettest du die Welt (How to Save the World) – she outlines new visions for a freer, more loving and more just society. She teaches at universities and speaks at conferences and on stages across Europe on topics such as feminism, racism, structural discrimination and collective transformation.
Mohamed Amjahid is a freelance investigative journalist specialising in police violence and human rights violations against refugees in North Africa, the Middle East and Europe. He writes for various German media outlets such as Der Spiegel, Die Zeit, Süddeutsche Zeitung, WDR and SWR. His latest book, ‘Alles nur Einzelfälle?
