The Shipwrecked Triptych

Deniz Eroglu, Germany, Netherlands, Denmark 2025, 90 Min., German with English subtitles

Followed by a talk with Deniz Eroglu

Across three allegorical episodes, Deniz Eroglu probes the nether regions of German history and the concept of being adrift: from a nursing home on New Year's Eve, to a Congolese family home, and the medieval German countryside.

'Mutiny' follows isolated care home staff throwing a party while residents sleep. In 'Boarding', dread builds during a bureaucrats visit to a refugee family home. Finally, 'Drifting' follows an outcast seeking survival in a wasteland.

Shifting between 16mm, 35mm, VHS, and AI-generated sequences, The Shipwrecked Triptych is an artistic tour-de-force and a fascinating treatise on isolation and belonging.

Deniz Eroglu is a Danish-Turkish artist whose multidisciplinary work spans sculpture, video and filmmaking.
