This film series highlights the diverse ways in which German film history has been marked by transnational entanglements. In cooperation with the Cluster of Excellence Temporal Communities: Doing Literature in a Global Perspective, Sinema Transtopia presents four evenings with invited experts that each highlight a different dimension of transnational filmmaking in Germany, focusing on the Turkish film industry, film schools and filmmakers in exile among others. The series is curated by Till Kadritzke and Carlos Kong. (TK, CK)
Till Kadritzke is a post-doctoral researcher at the Cluster of Excellence Temporal Communities: Doing Literature in a Global Perspective where he researches the intersection of film, racism and migration in 1970s and 1980s West Germany.
Carlos Kong is a joint-PhD candidate in Art History at Princeton University and in Film Studies at the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz, where he researches postmigrant perspectives on Turkish German migration histories in contemporary art and film.
