In a world overwhelmed with visual stimuli, how do we truly see, speak, and listen? Words Beyond Sight presents four shorts that challenge our understanding of language, perception, and the everyday. Everything Near Becomes Distant follows a friend of the filmmaker grappling with blindness, rediscovering the world through touch and fading memories. Carrie delves into the complexities of desire and female identity, blending human-animal metaphors, while A Nap in Fluoroscopy Buses vividly portrays urban alienation without dialogue. Pink Mao uses Renminbi banknotes to reveal the paradox of representation. These films invite us to rethink how we navigate life, listen to the unspoken, and explore the connection between seeing, feeling, and communicating. (CL)
