BiPoC Screenings

The BiPoC Screenings section of TV SERIES FESTIVAL amplifies independent filmmaking and the creative expression of underrepresented groups and voices (Black, Asian, Indigenous, PoC), highlighting stories that happen on and off screen. It supports emerging artists by offering visibility and mentorship, and platforms bold, authentic narratives that challenge the status quo.

TV SERIES FESTIVAL is the city’s hottest and most diverse showcase and platform for digital, serialized short film content, industry networking, and pop culture dialogue. Founded in 2017, the pop-up festival features global premieres and panels and offers a stage for plurality and BiPoC talents. (MD)

Ghost Bastard
Erkan Acar, Germany 2025, 92 min. German with English subtitles
Film

Mike is stuck in limbo. Literally. Mike is a ghost. Equipped with a healthy dose of cynicism, he seems to have accepted his fate in the in-between world—until, during one of his little pranks at the cinema that no one ever notices, he is suddenly called out by a girl. Elli can see him, hear him, and is thoroughly annoyed by him. His attempts to explain that he’s a ghost don’t exactly make things easier. Reluctantly, she engages with him, and a friendship begins to form—one that seems tailor-made for an introverted teenager like Elli. Mike becomes her imaginary friend, someone who understands her loneliness and grief in a way no one in her life has managed since her father’s death. But a ghost must eventually embark on his final journey, and a teenager must grow up. After all, fate did not bring the two of them together by chance.

Regisseur Erkan Acar was born in 1978 in Berlin, Germany. He is an actor and producer, known for Snowflake (2017), Ronny & Klaid (2018) and Aslan (2015)
