This short film by Mandy Krahn (second-year film 2024 at the Film University Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF) depicts a sensitive moment between a father and daughter when he tells her about the possible closure of his bistro. Different expectations and cultural influences make communication difficult, but the film opens up space for closeness and dialogue on equal terms.

Unfamiliar Familiar
The medium-length film Unfamiliar Familiar by Hae-Sup Sin (2022) accompanies a Swiss-Korean woman who travels to South Korea during the pandemic to come to terms with the death of her mother and spend the quarantine in the deceased's house. With a sensitive eye, the director tells a story of grief, belonging, and family expectations—and opens up a space for reflection on home and letting go.

Mandy Krahn is a born Berliner and, since 2022, a directing student at the Film University Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF, addresses personal and social issues in her short films and is currently working on her graduation film Die neue Frau (AT).

Hae-Sup Sin is a Swiss-Korean director from Opfikon and master's student in feature film directing at ZHdK, narrates stories between cultures in his work and is currently developing his first feature film, Some Korean Summer.
