Ayten Kuyululu, Australia 1975, 90 min. 16mm (Print courtesy: NFSA, Canberra), OV. Languages: English, Turkish

Golden Cage is the story of two Turkish migrants living in Australia. The older of the two, Murat, is a hard worker who wants to earn enough money to buy his own truck. The younger man falls in love with an Australian girl, but his identity poses challenges that are not easy to overcome. This was the first Australian film directed by a woman since the 1930s. Actress, scriptwriter and director Ayten Kuyululu also shot Utanför (Outsider, 1971) in Sweden and A Handful of Dust (1974) in Australia.
