AMAN AMAN Day 3 will start with a food offering by Kübra Sarı and a live musical intervention that honors Marika Ninou, the Armenian-Greek Rebetiko star born during her family's exile from Cilicia, whose haunting songs speak of love, loss, and dispossession. In the listening session “Ottoman-American” Women on 78rpm Discs, independent music researcher Ian Nagoski will share the sonic traces of seven immigrant singers whose roots go back to Ioannina, Bahçecik, İzmir, Alexandria, Patras, Mersin, Kos. In her lecture performance, Elona Beqiraj presents a newly commissioned work dedicated to the memory and diaspora of Kosovo, before the second shorts programbrings together lesser known films from the archives that trace diasporic life in West-Germany. The day closes with a concert by Seyyare - Anatolian Women's Choir, which emerged from spontaneous singing at a funeral for migrant resistance pioneer Filiz Taşkın; under conductor Sema Moritz, choir members who have experienced migration and exile perform centuries-old folk songs from Anatolia, the Balkans, the Caucasus, and the Middle East in over ten languages.
Drinks, snacks and meze plates will be available from SİNEMA HANE throughout the day.
