Dr. Frantz Fanon (Chroniques fidèles…)

1953, colonized Algeria: Dr. Frantz Fanon, a young black psychiatrist from Martinique is appointed head doctor at the Blida-Joinville Hospital. He was putting his own theories of 'Institutional Psychotherapy' into practice in opposition to the racist theories of the Algiers School of Psychiatry,  which justified French colonial rule by pathologizing the indigenous Algerian population.
