Promis le ciel

Marie, an Ivorian pastor, has been living in Tunis for ten years. Her home becomes a refuge for Naney, a young mother seeking a better future, and for Jolie, a strong-willed student from a wealthy background. They form a special community, in which each woman tries to build a new life in her own way. When they take in four-year-old Kenza, whose parents died in a shipwreck while fleeing, their cohesion is put to the test. Promis Le Ciel opened the Un Certain Regard section at Cannes this year. (AK)
