Over the past ten years, Cameroonian filmmaker Rosine Mbakam has made a name for herself with sensitive, observational documentary portraits of African women. At the center of her feature film debut is Pierrette, a seamstress in Douala, Cameroon. As a single mother, she fights for survival. After a robbery, she loses all her savings – just before the start of the school year. Then, her shop is flooded by rain. Despite all the setbacks, she remains composed, finding strength in the solidarity of other women in her community. (AFRIKAMERA)
