IN NOBODY'S SERVICE / ที่นี่ไม่เปิดให้บริการ / SA SERBISYO SA WALANG SINUMAN

Curated by Sarnt Utamachote (un.thai.tled) as part of the exhibition program POLY 2024 at Galerie Wedding

This project departs from the extremely violent and clichéd images that are frequently projected onto Thai and Filipina women and queer bodies, encompassing stories of love, sex, care and marriage in the German Bundesrepublik (and beyond). From being asked “are you married to a German man?” during a visa application to being called “women from the catalog”, “prostitute” and “maid”, these racist words moved us, collective un.thai.tled, to dig deeper into the histories and realities of our sisters and aunties. The outcome of our enquiries is IN NOBODY’S SERVICE, an exhibition and screening program that takes a multidisciplinary and polysemic approach to history-writing, labor, love, and care in contemporary arts practice. When “that kind” and “this kind” of women come together, then we are unbeatable. (SU)
